Quarantine Productions has unveiled Quarantine: X, an immersive sci-fi performance marking 10 years of interactive horror experiences for the company.

Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States - October 11, 2023

Albuquerque, NM - As the spooky season rolls around, one production company is planning something special to mark its 10th year producing horror experiences in Albuquerque. Quarantine Productions has made a name for itself in the area, hosting special interactive performances that make the audience participants in the show. This year, they’ve revealed the new show - Quarantine: X - which offers something exciting and different from what was previously produced.

The Most Interactive Horror Show Yet

“It’s wild that this is our tenth year,” says produced and writer Shannon Flynn. “We’ve done an all-zombie apocalypse, a creepy haunted girls' school, an alien invasion, a gothic vampire romance. Last year was a slasher prom and this year we’re doing something different yet again!” Despite being pressed for more details, Flynn was tight-lipped and tried not to give too much away, stating: “We want to keep as much of the plot under wraps as possible so that each audience can come in fresh.”  However, he did reveal that the premise behind the production will be sci-fi focused and that the audience will be welcomed into the Aevum-X employee orientation for a new wellness product.

Direct and producer Heather Yeo added that “this year we really wanted to focus not only on having some awesome scares and science fiction weirdness, but we were inspired by a lot of the amazing escape rooms in town. This is one of our most interactive shows - the audience is going to have to work together, be sneaky, and solve puzzles in order to make it through.”

A Personalized Experience For Audiences

“These shows usually sell out,” says Shannon Flynn. “We highly recommend people buy tickets in advance.” In this special 10th-year anniversary show, audience sizes are much smaller than usual, with a maximum of 16 people allowed at once.

There’s a reason behind this, with Heather Yeo noting that “this ensures everyone gets a really good show. It’s personalized and changes based on the behavior and interactions with the audience.” All shows are set to be at the North Fourth Theatre - 4904 4th Street NW.

Quarantine: X is set to take the traditional concept of theatre to new heights by smashing down the fourth wall and thrusting the audience directly into the harrowing story. Audience members are key parts of the narrative with this innovative approach blurring the lines between reality and fiction.

The show's name is shrouded in mystery too. “We decided to call this Quarantine: X because it’s our tenth year and we thought it sounded ominous. And then Elon Musk went ahead and changed the name of Twitter. Without giving too much away, that actually dovetails nicely with the themes we are playing with this year.”
