High school teacher and playwright Robyn Hilt is launching her brand new book, “Alice! – In Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass”. The book is set to go live February 28th, available online and is expected to become a big hit with theatre directors, teachers in high school literature and drama departments, and community theatre groups.

More information on the book can be found here: https://havescripts.com/alice

The book was written with the aim in mind to offer a large cast play script for school students and community theatres to perform. There’s also particular excitement about this launch because It combines two one-act stage versions of Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass in one volume to create a full length play.

Alice! – In Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass sets its main focus on adapting the Lewis Carroll stories to retain the joy of the language of the original texts. Readers will likely find a particular interest in characters and scenes that are missing from the Disney version. The book’s cover art was created by Anna Baillie, and Alice! – In Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass is being released by Blue Moon Plays.

Robyn Hilt has a background as a fashion and interior design teacher at Garden City High school in Garden City Kansas and she serves as the dramaturg and costumer for all Garden City High School Drama department productions. This helped shape the creation of the book “…with early memories and love for the language and illustrations in the books I read as a child.”

When asked about why she wrote the book, Hilt said: “For our school show, we had a very large group of students who wanted to be involved and we wanted a show that would give them all a chance at having their own part. Alice seemed like a perfect fit for my next adaptation.”

Hilt has hopes that the book will fill a gap between school theatre departments and the English or Humanities curriculum.. This positive outlook from the author is certainly testament to their optimism considering some of the mishaps during its creation. At one point the script had a lot of changes made to it throughout the rehearsal process to make the challenging technical elements work.

In a recent interview, the author made a point of thanking her students for their enthusiasm and imagination, the teachers of other departments in the school and Blue Moon Plays for publishing the plays. for their part in the creation of the book.
