Electo’s Dhruv Saini sat down with Sarabpreet Kaur, host of New Canadians, to discuss the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP), its categories, eligibility criteria, and the application process.
The full interview can be found at https://newcanadians.tv/oinp-ontario-immigrant-nominee-program
In the interview, Dhruv Saini, a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant, explains that the OINP has multiple streams and categories which are targeting different types of applicants.
“The three major categories are the job offer category, the human capital category, and then we have the business category,” explained Saini. “So, under the job offer category, you got the in-demand skill stream, which is for people who have at least nine months of accumulative experience within the past three years acquired in the province of Ontario in a list of specific occupations,” he added.
Saini goes on to elaborate on the other streams available under the job offer category, which are open to foreign workers and international students.
Those applying under the foreign worker stream will need to have two years of accumulative experience in the last five years, explains Saini. The requirements for international students are slightly different, as there is no experience needed. However, applicants do need to have a job offer in Ontario.
“The key thing here is that you must have graduated from an eligible institute in Canada within the last two years,” explains Saini. Additionally, the job offer must be in one of the skilled occupations listed by the province of Ontario.
In the interview, Saini goes further into the details for each category available under the OINP, explaining that a wide range of applicants could be eligible under these programs, including those who completed their master’s or Ph.D. in the province of Ontario, French-speaking skilled workers, and entrepreneurs looking to establish a new business or buy an existing business in Ontario.
The OINP is one of Canada’s largest immigration programs, nominating 9,000 immigrants in 2021. Additionally, in September 2022, the OINP draw invited 1,521 Express Entry applicants under the skilled trades stream. This latest interview from New Canadians aims to spread awareness about all the different immigration pathways available to people around the world. The show is dedicated to portraying stories of immigrants who have made Canada their new home.
